Japan's government has joined the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as well as drugmakers Astellas, Eisai, Daiichi-Sankyo, Shionogi and Takeda to form the Global Health Innovative Technology fund to develop diagnostic tests, drugs and vaccines to fight disease in developing countries.
